The Banded Piglet Squid
The Banded Piglet Squid lives near the surface of the ocean at 100-200 m deep. It’s mantle is 100mm in length. The odd shaped body of Helicocranchia Pfefferi looks like a funnel and all of the squid’s tentacles are located above the eyes. The funnel contains no valves, but a pad with three papillae (like organs). You are most likely to find one of these creatures in the Northern Atlantic, but since not much is known of the species, it is difficult to peg distribution. To be honest, the small squid reminds me of Gonzo from the Muppets.
